Update - Residential Fire - C17-52261
   
Homicide Investigation:
   
As previously released - On March 14, 2017, at approximately 9:45 a.m., emergency services responded to a working house fire in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue.
   
First responders located a 29 year old female identified as Jeanenne Chantel FONTAINE within the residence. She was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition as a result of being shot and exposure to the fire.
   
FONTAINE succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
   
Investigators have determined that the cause of death was attributed to events leading up to and including the deliberately set fire. However, autopsy results are still pending.
   
The investigation is continuing by Homicide investigators. Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact detectives at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
   
Suspicious Male C17-52979
On March 15, 2017 at approximately 9:40 a.m., a 13 year old female was walking in the area of Arlington Street and Alfred Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male in a vehicle.
   
The male ask the girl where she was going and told her to get in his vehicle. She ignored him and made her way to her destination unharmed.
   
The male is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, late 40's, long beard and dark hair above his shirt collar. He was observed wearing a blue jean jacket.
   
The male was operating a newer model black truck.
   
Member of the District 3 Crime Unit have been notified. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident/suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).  
    
   
Drug Arrests - C17-53206
On March 15, 2017 at approximately 3:50 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit were patrolling the area of the 300 block of Portage Avenue and observed two males acting in a suspicious manner.
   
Officers continued their investigation in conjunction with the downtown safety strategy, Centreline and arrested both males for drug related offences.
   
They were also found to be in possession of a quantity of drugs including, crack cocaine, prescription medication, including weapons (Knives & brass knuckles).  
   
A 24 year old male and 22 year old male are facing several drug and weapon related offences.
