Commercial Robbery Arrest  –  C1747102
On March 3rd, 2017 at approximately 12:20 am, a male suspect entered a restaurant in the area of Goulet St. and St. Mary's Rd, while attempting to conceal his appearance. The suspect confronted an employee and demanded that they hand over the contents of the til.
 
As a result of the robbery the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
On March 6th, 2017 at approximately 8:00 pm a male suspect, while concealing his identity entered a restaurant in the area of Goulet St. and St. Mary's Rd. Once inside the suspect demanded that an employee hand over the contents of the til. The male fled empty handed once he realized that there were several employees in the premise.
 
Winnipeg Police General Patrol and the Tactical Support Team attended the scene. Upon arrival they learnt that a second commercial robbery had just occurred in the same area by a male matching the same description. Once again the male had fled empty handed.
 
Witnesses informed Police that they had seen a male fleeing the area into a third location in the immediate area of the robberies. This location was searched by officers and a male matching the suspect's description was located attempting to conceal himself in a washroom stall.
 
Members of the Major Crimes unit were notified and continued to investigate.
 
Matthieu Joseph Ronald FORTIER, 30-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement and remanded into custody:

   

  • Robbery x 3
  • Disguise with Intent x 3
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance
  • Warrant – FTC with Recognizance
