Impaired Driving & Firearm – Arrest – C17-104937
 
On May 18, 2017, at approximately 1:15 a.m., a General Patrol unit observed a vehicle in the area of Maryland Street and Portage Avenue operating in an erratic manner and at a high rate of speed.
 
A traffic stop was initiated in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street when the male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. As General Patrol members pursued the male, he attempted to climb a fence and threw aside what was discovered to be a .22 calibre handgun with ammunition. The male resisted arrest and was ultimately taken into custody without injury.
 
Corey Hart, a 31-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Driving While Ability Impaired
- Fail or Refuse to Provide Breath Sample
- Resist Peace Officer
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
 
He has been detained in custody.
