Motor Vehicle Collision – Arrest: C17-116634
On May 30, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m., uniform officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Toronto Street and Ellice Avenue. The subject vehicle fled, and almost immediately collided with another vehicle.  
 
The driver of the second vehicle, a male in his sixties, was transported to hospital in unstable condition. His condition has since been upgraded to stable. The driver of the first vehicle fled the scene on foot, but was arrested a short time later. 
 
The driver of the first vehicle, a 30-year-old male, has been charged with numerous offences, including:
 - Drive Impaired Cause Bodily Harm
 - Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
 - Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Cause Bodily Harm
 
The accused was detained in custody.
 
As a result of the involvement of Winnipeg Police members immediately prior to this incident, the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) was contacted and has initiated an investigation. All further inquiries regarding this incident are to be directed to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba.
 
 
Motor Vehicle/Pedestrian Collision: C17-116848
On May 31, 2017, at approximately 7:15 a.m., emergency services personnel responded to a 2-vehicle MVC at the intersection of Fermor Avenue and St Marys Road. As a result of the collision one of the vehicles struck a cyclist on the roadway. 
 
The cyclist was transported to hospital in critical condition. The driver of one of the vehicles involved was transported to hospital in stable condition. 
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Central Traffic Unit remain on scene and are continuing to investigate.
