Suspicious Person/Vehicle: C17-137052
As previously released:
 
The Winnipeg Police Service wishes to make the public aware of a suspicious vehicle that has been observed in the area of a number of schools within the Elmwood and Rossmere areas.
 
The vehicle is described as an early 2000's dark blue Ford E350 Econoline van with blacked out windows. The driver is described as a white male, being 50 to 60 years old, slim build, short white hair and wearing a plaid shirt.
 
On June 22, 2017, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the vehicle was observed near a school in the 100 block of Poplar Avenue. The male driver attempted to speak with a teenage female and drove away after being unsuccessful.
 
A short time later, the vehicle was observed near a school in the 900 block of Henderson Highway. After being confronted, the male driver again drove away.
 
The vehicle was then observed to attend near a school in the 600 block of Brazier Street and later left the area.
 
The vehicle has been located and investigators have spoken with the driver. No charges have been laid and the investigation continues.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service thanks the public for their assistance.
 
Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C17-137339
On June 22, 2017, at approximately 10:45 p.m., a lone male entered a convenience store in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue while concealing his face and armed with a shotgun.
 
Once inside, the male pointed the firearm at an employee and demanded money. A brief confrontation occurred and the male fled without obtaining any property. There were no reported injuries or shots fired.
 
At approximately 2:00 a.m., a General Patrol unit observed the suspect in the area of Selkirk Avenue and Salter Street. A short time later, he was arrested at a residence in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
Carl Avery Daniels, a 21-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Disguise with Intent
- Pointing a Firearm
- Use of a Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited/ Restricted Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
 
He was detained in custody.
