Assault/Suspicious Male – Investigation: C17-153631
On July 12, 2017, at approximately 6:45 p.m., an adult female was jogging in the area of Lindsay Street and Corydon Avenue when she was approached by a male who made a motion as if he was asking for the time.
The victim provided the time and continued to jog, but noticed the male was still following her. It was at this time that the male grabbed the victim and attempted to assault her. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to flee with minor injuries.
The suspect is described as:
- An Indigenous male.
- Late 20's to early 30's in age.
- 5'9" in height with an athletic build (approximately 190 to 200 lbs).
- Short black hair (shorter on the sides and longer on top) and clean shaven.
- Wearing a dark blue shirt with a white stripe down the side, dark pants and dark runners.
- Also wearing sunglasses, a silver chain, and a square electronic watch.

Firearm – Arrest: C17-153003
On July 11, 2017, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a dispute in the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue. An adult male had left a residence carrying a bag containing a firearm.
A number of units, including General Patrol, K9 and the Tactical Support Team were dispatched.
Upon arrival, officers located the male in the area and took him into custody. A sawed-off pump-action shotgun and a knife were found hidden in the nearby area.
This investigation continued by District 3 General Patrol members.
Jessie Robert David Catterson, a 34-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
He was detained in custody.
Male Shot - Arrest: C17-96689
As previously released:
On May 9, 2017 at approximately 2:45 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of an individual suffering from a gunshot wound in the first 100 block of Agate Bay.
Upon arrival, General Patrol members located a 31-year-old male suffering from a gun-shot wound to the lower body. The male was transported to hospital in stable condition.
On July 12, 2017 an adult male turned himself in to police.
Brent Joseph NOLETTE, a 27-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault and a number of firearm related offences.

Robbery - Arrest: C16-153316
On July 24, 2016 the RCMP were notified of an injured male attempting to flag down motorists on the north Perimiter Hwy, east of Pipeline St. The male was picked up by a passer-by and taken to a hospital in Winnipeg at which time the Winnipeg Police Service was notified. .
The 30-year-old, male victim advised that on July 23, 2016, he arranged a date via a popular on-line dating site. When he attended the pre-arranged residence, a male and female were present. A short time later, a second male arrived and attacked the victim, stabbing him once in the lower body, assaulting him and robbing of personal items and along with this car keys. One of the accused persons was then able to withdraw money from the victim's bank account while others continued to assault the victim.
The victim was then forced into his own vehicle, taken to the north perimeter, where his vehicle was driven in a ditch causing extensive damage. The suspects then fled leaving the victim at this location.
On July 31, 2016 a 17-year-old female was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Robbery x3
- Unlawfully in a Dwelling House x2
- Break, Enter and Commit Robbery
- Assaut with a Weapon
- Robbery
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Forcible Confinement
- Kidnapping
- Administer Noxious Thing with Intent to Endanger life or Cause Bodily Harm
On July 12, 2017 members of the Winnipeg Police Service located and arrested Joseph Bernard RICHARD, 20-years-old of Winnipeg. He has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Kidnapping
- Forceible Confinement
- Disguise with Intent
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Admisniter Noxious Thing with Intent to Endanger Life or Cause Bodily Harm

Public Advisory – Telephone Solicitation Scam
The Winnipeg Police Service has recently been made aware of a number of incidents related to a telephone solicitation scam involving residence being asked to donate to "Winnipeg Fire Firefighters".
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service advises they, and the United Firefighters of Winnipeg, do not solicit for donations.
Members of the public are encouraged not to engage these callers or provide payment in any form and to report such incidents to police.
