Attempt Murder - Arrest:  C17-254055

On July 8, 2017, Winnipeg Police received the report of a female assaulted by a male armed with a firearm.

In October 2017, police received information regarding a male in possession of a loaded revolver at a residence.

On October 28, 2017, Winnipeg Police were alerted to an adult male threatened and assaulted by another male armed with a sawed off shotgun. The victim as transported to hospital treated for minor injuries and released.

On October 31, 2017, a 24-year-old male was shot in the rear upper body and a 28-year-old female was shot in the rear lower body at a residence in Winnipeg. Both shooting victims were treated in hospital and later released. The suspect, while armed with a firearm, then confronted four adults at a nearby residence and threatened to shoot them.

On November 4, 2017 Winnipeg Police requested the public's assistance in the locating the suspect.

On November 18, 2017 Winnipeg Police were alerted to a male armed with a gun inside a residence in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue. The Tactical Support Unit and general patrol officers attended and determined that the male was still inside. Officers successfully called the suspect out of the residence and placed him under arrest. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of a loaded .22 calibre revolver.

Samuel Tache MCKAY, 29-years-old of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possess Weapon X2
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition X2
  • Possess Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance X2

In addition, the following warrants for outstanding charges were executed:

  • W/A - Assault, Disobey Court Order x2 Possess Weapon
  • W/A - Point Firearm, Fail to Comply with Recognizance X6, Utter Threats, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Careless Storage
  • W/A - Attempt Murder x2, Point Firearm X3, Discharge with intent X3, Break and Enter
  • W/A - FTA Recognizance
