Weapons - Arrest: C18-6496
On January 10, 2018 at approximately 12:10 a.m., Winnipeg Police District 3 General Patrol members conducted a traffic stop of a taxi in the area of Salter Street and Dufferin Avenue.
   
While addressing the driver, officer observed a male in the backseat with what appeared to be a firearm protruding from a bag. The male was placed under arrest and taken into custody.  He was found to be in possession of a can of bear spray.  A sawed off .22 calibre rifle was located in the back seat along with three rounds of ammunition.
   
Derrick Scott COUTU, 38-years-old, of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Possess Weapon
  • Transport Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X8
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

 
   
Drugs and Weapon - Arrest: C18-5987
On January 9, 2018 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Winnipeg Police District 3 General Patrol members observed a suspicious male in the area of Arlington Street and Manitoba Avenue. Upon speaking to the male it was learned that there was an outstanding warrant of arrest for the male. He was placed under arrest and upon searching his person police discovered a can of bear spray and a folding knife.
   
He was also in possession of a backpack which contained the following:

  • 4 grams of cocaine powder
  • 4 1/8 gram rocks of cocaine wrapped in foil
  • 2 baggies, each containing approx. 12 grams of methamphetamine
  • 43 Percocet pill, each containing 5 mg of oxycotone
  • A loaded, but dismantled shotgun
  • 1 shotgun shell
  • 3 digital scales, packaging material, and four bags of cutting agent

 
Scott Marcel BRENNAN, 28-years-old has been charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance X3
  • Fail to Comply with Probation
  • Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possess Weapon X3
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

   
Stolen Vehicle/AIR1 – Arrest: C18-6476  
On January 9, 2018, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the District 3 Community Support Unit observed a stolen newer model Audi A6 sedan travelling in the area of Salter Street and Selkirk Avenue.
   
AIR1 was assigned to the incident and quickly acquired the stolen vehicle as it began to drive at a high rate of speed. Ground units did not pursue the vehicle.
   
The vehicle was tracked by AIR1 to the intersection of Keewatin Street and Gallagher Avenue West at which time officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The vehicle came to a stop in the 1500 block of Ross Avenue and the driver fled on foot.
   
After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was placed under arrest at a schoolyard in the 1500 block of 1570 Elgin Avenue.
   
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
   
It has been determined that the vehicle was stolen during the morning of January 7, 2018, from the Bridgewater Trails area.
   
Rolly Allen Baptiste, a 22-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Driving While Disqualified
  - Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
  - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  - Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x3)
  - Drive suspended/while disqualified (Highway Traffic Act)
   
He was detained in custody.
