Weapons - Arrests: C18-8394
On January 14, 2018 at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service Tactical Support Team, District 3 Community Support Unit and Street Crime Unit members executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Bannerman Avenue.
A search of the residence revealed the following:
- .22 calibre rifle,
- .22 calibre pellet rifle with scope
- Loaded sawed-off lever-action 30-30 rifle
- Various types of ammunition
Christopher Leigh CHYLINSKI, 38-years-old, of Winnipeg has been charged with:
- Breach Probation
- Possess Identity Card x 3
- Careless Storage of a Firearm x 2
- Contravention of Storage Regulations x 2
- P.W.D.P.P. x 2
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Tampering with a Serial Number (of a firearm)
- Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order x 12
He has been detained in custody.
A 32-years-old female of Winnipeg has been arrested and released on a Promise to Appear.
Drugs Arrests: C18-9642
On January 13, 2018, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a Winnipeg Police District 3 general patrol unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Selkirk Ave. and Main St. due to a Highway Traffic Act infraction.
While speaking with the driver officers observed a large hunting knife clearly visible by the front seat. The driver was found to be in breach of a court order prohibiting possession of weapons. Officers subsequently located methamphetamine within the vehicle with a value of $10,000, $9,000 in cash as well as a small quantity of cocaine. The driver and passenger were both arrested and charged.
A 33-year-old male was charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5,000
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
James Joseph FREITAS,37, was charged with the following offences:
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance x 2
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5,000
Freitas was detained in custody.
