Motor Vehicle Collision – Investigation: C18-38600   
On February 23, 2018, at approximately 3:50 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Goulet Street and Traverse Avenue for a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a transit bus and a car.
   
The driver of the car was transported to hospital in critical condition. The driver of the transit bus and a passenger in the car were transported to hospital in stable condition.
   
A preliminary investigation has revealed the transit bus had the right-of-way and was travelling westbound on Goulet Street when it was struck by the northbound car.
   
Alcohol is believed to be a factor at this time.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Traffic Division. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Homicide – Arrests: C18-6360   
As previously released, the Winnipeg Police Service investigated the homicide of Hossein Lotfi, a 77-year-old male of Winnipeg.
   
On January 9, 2018, at approximately 8 p.m., an East District General Patrol unit was patrolling in the area of St. Anne's Road and Fermor Avenue when they conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of St. Anne' Road and Fermor Avenue.
   
Suspicious circumstances and an investigation led officers to a residence in the first 100 block of Manila Road where they located Mr. Lotfi deceased.
   
The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit.
   
It has been determined that the victim had been socializing with two individuals at his residence during the evening of January 5, 2018, when a physical confrontation occurred. The victim was left in an incapacitated state while the two individuals fled in the victim's vehicle.
   
During the evening of January 6, the suspects, along with three other individuals, returned to the residence and stole a number of items. Prior to leaving, a fire was set which caused excessive amount of damage to the property.
   
As a result of items stolen from the victim's residence – Mr. Lotfi's identification, bank and credit cards were used over the following days in and around Winnipeg.
   
Investigators have now made several arrests in relation to this homicide.
   
Yvonne Littlejohn, a 36-year-old female of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Second Degree Murder
  - Theft over $5,000
                                           
Myra Dawn Bird, a 35-year-old female of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Second Degree Murder
  - Arson Causing Damage to Property
  - Theft Over $5,000
  - Theft Under $5,000
  - Fraud Under $5,000 (x4)
   
Charles Clayton Shabaquay, a 43-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Arson Causing Damage to Property
  - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  - Theft Over $5,000
  - Identity Fraud (x3)
  - Fraud Under $5,000 (x8)
   
A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:
   
  - Arson Causing Damage to Property
  - Theft Under $5,000
   
They were detained in custody.
   
A 15-year-old female of Winnipeghas been charged with:
   
  - Theft Under $5,000 (x2)
   
She was released on a Promise to Appear.
   
Drugs – Arrest: C18-38066  
On February 22, 2018, at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the Street Crime Unit were travelling in the area of Pacific Street and McPhillips Street when they observed a rental vehicle travelling eastbound.
   
As officers turned around in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle left the area. The vehicle was followed to the area of Wellington Avenue and Arlington Street where it was found parked at the rear of a residence and a suspect was observed fleeing down the back lane.
   
Officers gave chase and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect was in possession of three bags which were found to contain approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine (with a street value of $4,500). A small amount of Canadian currency was also seized.
   
An investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen during the morning of February 19, 2018, from the 600 block of Boyd Avenue. The vehicle also had stolen licence plates on it that had been taken from a vehicle overnight on February 17, 2018, in the 400 block of Flora Avenue.
   
Amanda Crystal Rose Munroe, a 27-year-old female of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
  - Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
  - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
   
She was detained in custody.
   
Firearm – Arrests: C18-36299  
During the evening of February 22, 2018, members of the District 3 Community Support Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue.
   
A number of individuals were taken into custody and an investigation has led to the seizure of a number of items including the following:
   
  - A loaded sawed-off .22 calibre rifle.
  - Scales.
  - Packaging materials.
   
Rheal Joseph Derek Savard, a 38-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  - Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  - Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  - Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
  - Fail to Comply with Probation Order
 
Steven Donovan Green, a 24-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  - Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  - Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  - Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
   
Gina Julianna Dobran, a 30-year-old female of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  - Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  - Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
   
They were detained in custody.
