Aggravated Assault  – Public Assistance Requested: C18-40214

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting assistance from the public in locating an adult male who investigators believe is responsible for a violent assault on a female.

The attack occurred on February 24, 2018, at approximately 6:15 a.m., in the area Magnus Avenue between Chudley Street and Buller Avenue. An adult female was struck repeatedly with a machete causing her to fall the ground. She was then kicked in the head, face and upper body and again struck with a machete.

The suspect has been identified as:

Vincent Rupert THOMPSON, 29-years-old. He is described as 6' tall, approximately 170 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Thompson is currently wanted for Aggravated Assault.If located, the public is asked not to approach him and contact police immediately.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
