Drug Offences – Arrest: C18-136332
 
On June 25, 2018, at approximately 6:40 p.m., members of the District 3 Community Support Unit were in the area of Powers Street and Magnus Avenue when they observed a suspicious male on a bicycle conduct what appeared to be a drug transaction. 
 
The male immediately fled the area and was pursued to the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue where officers found him hiding on top of a detached garage.
 
He was removed from the roof and resisted officers as he was taken into custody. A search resulted in the seizure of the following:
 
- 7.34 grams of methamphetamine
- 4 Xanax pills
- 13 Percocet pills
- $120 Canadian currency
- 2 cans of bear spray
- Packaging materials
- Scale
 
Darrick Wallace Desmarais, a 31-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Scheduled Substance – Alprazolam
- Possession of Scheduled Substance – Oxycodone
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
 
He was detained in custody.
 
Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C18-63558
 
On March 28, 2018, at approximately 8:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the 400 block of Sargent Avenue for a report of an injured male that had walked into a business asking for help.
 
The male, a 42-year-old victim, was transported to hospital in critical condition with stab wound injuries. He was later upgraded to stable condition.
 
General Patrol and Major Crime Unit officers continued with an investigation and determined that victim had been inside his suite in the 500 block of Balmoral Street when another resident (of the same building) entered his suite armed with a knife and a glass shard from a mirror. An altercation ensued and the victim was stabbed several times but was able to flee.
 
On June 25, 2018, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a Division 11 Community Support Unit officer located the suspect in the 600 block of Main Street and placed him under arrest.
 
Oliver Daniel Murdock, a 53-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice
 
He was also processed on a second warrant for an incident on January 13, 2018, in the 500 block of Elgin Avenue where a 54-year-old male victim was struck over the head with a pipe. Murdock has been charged with:
 
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon
 
He was detained in custody.
