Stabbing – Investigation: C18-145831
 
On July 7, 2018, at approximately 3:41 a.m., emergency services responded to the area outside of a nightclub in the 100 block of Princess Street for a report of a male that had been stabbed.
 
Upon arrival, officers located three males suffering from stab wound injuries.
 
One male was transported to hospital in critical condition. The other two were transported in unstable and stable conditions.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
No further information on this incident will be provided at this time.
 
Home Invasion – Arrest: C18-127123
 
On June 15, 2018, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a violent home invasion that had occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and believe that on June 14, 2018, at approximately 2:30 a.m., two males had attended the residence with their faces concealed. One was carrying a sawed-off shotgun. 
 
The two forced their way into the suite and confronted the lone occupant of the residence. A shot was fired towards the victim but struck a wall. He was then hit over the head with the firearm, causing an injury.
 
Several items were taken from the residence and the two suspects fled. While running down the back lane, one suspect tripped and accidentally discharged the firearm.
 
During the early morning hours of June 18, 2018, West District General Patrol officers located a youth suspect at his residence in the Earl Grey neighbourhood and placed him under arrest.
 
A 17-year-old male was charged with:
 
- Break Enter & Commit Robbery - Dwelling House
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Disguise with Intent
- Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Judge/Justice
 
He was detained in custody.
 
On July 6, 2018, at approximately 11:20 a.m., District 3 General Patrol officers located the second suspect walking in the 400 block of Alfred Avenue and placed him under arrest.
 
Derek Donald Franklin, a 36-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Break Enter & Commit Robbery - Dwelling House
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)
 
He was detained in custody.
