Assault – Arrest: C18-174792

On August 12, 2018, the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of an assault of a Winnipeg Parking Authority employee.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a mobile patrol officer had been patrolling in the 200 block of De Vos Road in response to area complaints when a male driver stopped his vehicle in the path of the officer and blocked him from proceeding any further.

The male driver opened his door, partially got out the vehicle and began yelling at the patrol officer, all the while allowing his vehicle to move towards the patrol officer's vehicle.  He then stopped it and moved towards the patrol officer, who was subsequently assaulted. As the patrol officer attempted to voice an emergency on his portable radio, the suspect grabbed the radio cord of the device and pulled it out of the microphone causing it to become inoperable.

The male then drove away and members of the Winnipeg Police Service were contacted.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., a male suspect was placed under arrest at a residence in the 200 block of Fairhaven Road.

A 30-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:
