Impaired Driving – Arrest: C18-189859
 
On August 31, 2018, at approximately 12:40 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Talbot Avenue and Gateway Road. A caller had reported seeing an older recreational/motorhome-style vehicle strike a hydro pole and a number of occupants, including a male driver, fled on foot.
 
The force of the collision sheared the hydro pole and caused a power outage in the area.
 
East District General Patrol and K9 unit members attended the scene. Police Service Dog (P.S.D.) Veyda conducted a track to the rear of a residence in the 500 block of Castle Avenue where a male was found hiding inside a parked car. The male was taken into custody.
 
Officers also met with two adult females and a 2-year-old child in the area which are believed to have been the other occupants that had fled the vehicle.  
 
James Bradley Porth, a 48-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Driving While Ability Impaired
- Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample – Breath
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice
 
He has been detained in custody.
