Monday, October 3, 2016         Commercial Robberies Arrest - C16-205821 Between January 2016 and October 2016, numerous convenience stores were robbed of merchandise by an armed male suspect.     During the robberies, the suspect would confront staff while armed with a knife and obtain an undisclosed amount cigarettes before fleeing, typically on a bike.     The incidents are as follows:       January 16th - 1300 block of Henderson Highway   July 12th - 300 block of Henderson Highway   July 21st - 100 block of Salter Street   July 24th - 600 block of Watt Street   July 25th - 300 block of Henderson Highway   September 5th - 600 block of Watt Street   September 7th - 600 block of Watt Street   September 7th - 100 block of Salter Street   September 30th - 600 block of Watt Street   October 2nd - 300 block of Henderson Highway     On October 2, 2016 near midnight, a convenience store located in the 300 block of Henderson Highway was robbed and the suspect fled.     At approximately 4:00 a.m., the suspect re-attended the same business to allegedly commit another robbery. The store clerk recognized the suspect and secured the business, preventing him to gain entry. He eventually left the area on a bike.     A short time later, a uniform patrol supervisor observed the suspect riding a bike in the area of Henderson Highway and Larsen Avenue. After a brief altercation, the male was arrested and taken into custody.     Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation.     Jeremy Al BECHARD, 38 years old of Winnipeghas been charged with the following:       Robbery x 11   Possession of a Weapon x 9   Fail to Comply with Probation Order     He was remanded into custody.         Break-In Investigation Arrest - C16-206373 On October 2, 2016 at approximately 11:45 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence located in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue regarding a break-in incident in progress.     At this time, the investigation has revealed that a 30 year old male and 25 year old female were confronted by the suspect resulting in various injuries. Saturday, October 1, 2016   Animal Incident – C16-204790 Winnipeg Police received a report of an animal incident that occurred at Kilcona Off-Leash Dog Park near Springfield Road yesterday evening. Officers met with a male who reported that he was at Kilcona Park walking his two large dogs on September 30, 2016, at approximately 9:30 p.m., when he came upon what appeared to be three large coyotes. The animals began to circle the male and his dogs. The coyotes followed the man until he was able to reach the safety of his vehicle, however, they continued to follow the vehicle until he left the park area. Manitoba Conservation has been advised. Winnipeg Police are aware of a number of recent incidents of coyote sightings in the area of Kilcona Park. Coyotes are known to be most active during sunrise and sunset hours. Park users are advised to keep dogs on a leash, and pick up and carry small dogs if confronted. Thursday, September 29, 2016  Serious Assault – Male Wanted: C16-201752 The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating an individual wanted in connection to a series of violent assaults that took place in Winnipeg between August 14 and September 27, 2016. An arrest warrant has been issued for Perez Adaryll CLEVELAND. Cleveland faces multiple charges, including: Assault, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault with a weapon, and Possession of a Weapon. Cleveland is described as a Black male, 5'11" in height, 255 pounds. He is clean shaven with a shaved head. Cleveland maintained a residence in the south-west area of Winnipeg; however, he has former ties to Ottawa, ON area. Perez Adaryll CLEVELAND Cleveland is considered dangerous and should not be approached. Thursday, September 15, 2016   Drug Investigation Arrest – Follow-up: C16-190364 As previously released, On September 12, 2016, officers from the East District Community Support Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team executed a search warrant at a hotel in the west-end of Winnipeg. As a result of the warrant, officers located and seized 1477 blotter tabs. Lab tests have now confirmed the blotter tabs contain the drug carfentanil. The tabs have an estimated street value of approximately $30,000.      As a result of this investigation a 37-old-male was arrested and charged with numerous drug related offences. ********************************************************************************************************* Carfentanil is an analogue of the synthetic opioid analgesic fentanyl, and is one of the most potent opioids known. It has potency approximately 10,000 times that of morphine, and 100 times that of fentanyl. The lethal dose of pharmaceutical fentanyl is 2mg. The risks with fentanyl can lead to death. However, if you are using heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil or any other similar drug, it is important that you have a Naloxone overdose prevention kit with you at all times. Because Carfentanil is so toxic, you might need to use several doses of Naloxone to reverse an overdose. If you inject opioids, you can get a free Naloxone kit and overdose response training from the Street Connections program at 496 Hargrave Street. Naloxone can also be purchased from any pharmacy, without a prescription. Wednesday, September 28, 2016     Update:  Missing Person – Christine WOOD - C16-174340 The Winnipeg Police Service is continuing to request the public's assistance in locating missing 21 year old, Christine WOOD. As previously shared, Christine was last seen during the evening of Friday evening, August 19, 2016. She has spent time for the past few years in Winnipeg and in Oxford House, Manitoba, having friends and family in both areas. A number of potential sightings in the Osborne Village area, downtown Winnipeg, North End and St. James area east of Polo Park have been reported to investigators. At present, Christine is facing some personal challenges in her life causing on-going concern for her well-being. The Missing Persons Unit is continuing to request the help of anyone who may have pertinent knowledge as to Christine's whereabouts to come forward and assist.  WOOD is described as an Aboriginal female, 5'6" tall, average build with shoulder length dark brown hair. WOOD was last seen wearing a green top with a red striped Adidas jacket over top, denim shorts and carrying a white purse. Further, Christine has a chipped upper left lateral incisor tooth.
