Tuesday, May 29, 2012 11:00 a.m. FIREARM SEIZURE – ARRESTS C12-98627 On Sunday, May 27, 2012 at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of Royal Mint Drive for reports of a dispute and firearm incident. Police arrived and found several people at the location for a party. An investigation of the incident revealed that two adult males who were at this gathering retrieved firearms that were stored at this location and started to manipulate the operational components of the firearms in an unsafe manner. This was done in the presence of several individuals who were in attendance. While this was taking place, a dispute regarding missing personal property developed. The two male suspects confronted a male who was in attendance at this location, as they believed he was responsible for the missing property. Both suspects assaulted the male victim causing injury to his upper body. One of the male suspects threatened the victim, to harm him with a weapon. Both suspects were still at the location when police arrived and both were arrested and taken into custody. Several firearms, ammunition and stolen military training weapons were seized from the location. Members of the East District Crime Unit obtained search warrants for this location and the 100 block of Tupelo Street where further weapons were seized. Accused #1 is a 25 year old male of Winnipeg and has been charged with the following:

Both males were released on Promise to Appear. FIRE INVESTIGATION C12-99797 On Monday, May 28, 2012 at approximately 11:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of the 600 block of River Avenue regarding a parking garage fire. A number of vehicles at this location sustained extensive damage. Damage is estimated at $60,000. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The cause of fire is undetermined and the investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.
