Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Sunday, December 23, 2012     FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION C12-257917 On December 23, 2012 at approximately 4:05 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Regent Avenue West and Brewster Street regarding reports of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.   At this stage of the investigation, officers have determined that an adult male on a bike was struck by a vehicle travelling westbound on Regent Avenue West.   The male was transported from the scene in critical condition and has since succumbed to injuries sustained.   Members of the Central Traffic Unit are currently investigating and interviews are on-going. An adult male is in police custody and is facing charges. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision.     The name of the deceased will not be released.
