Poppy Donation Box Thefts - Investigation -  R14-81399, C14-238176
On November 3, 2014 at approximately 5:05 p.m., two male suspects attended to a business located in the 2200 block of McPhillips Street. While in the store, the suspects stole a poppy donation box with an unknown amount of cash inside. The two males exited the store without staff noticing the theft.
 
Suspect #1: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 25 years-old, medium complexion, no facial hair, taller with average build, short dark hair, wearing red runners, dark pants, red T-shirt, dark waist length jacket with hood, and dark baseball cap.

Suspect #2: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 25 years-old, medium complexion, no facial hair, slightly shorter than suspect #1, heavier build, wearing dark footwear, blue jeans, and NYAC dark hoody. (Appears to be the same suspect in the second incident)

On November 5, 2014 at approximately 7:40 p.m., a male suspect attended to a grocery store located in the 1800 block of Burrows Avenue. While there, the suspect stole a poppy donation box containing an unknown amount of cash. He then exited the store with the donation box without staff noticing the theft.

The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 25 years-old, medium complexion, no facial hair, heavier build, wearing dark footwear, blue jeans, and NYAC dark hoody.

Assault Peace Officer Arrest – C14-242714
On November 12, 2014 at approximately 2:35 p.m., officers responded to a theft incident that occurred at a business located in the 300 block of Portage Avenue involving two male suspects.  It was determined that one of the males had been taken into custody by security officers. The second male fled the area.
 
The investigation has revealed that the suspects attended to a restaurant and placed an order for food. Once there order was received, the suspects attempted to leave, making no attempt to pay. It was at this time the suspects were approached by security officers.
 
While in custody, one suspect physically assaulted three security officers. A short time later, members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended and arrested the male. While in police custody, the suspect kicked an officer in the upper body causing an injury. The male officer was treated for minor injuries and released.
 
Hamza MASABO, 18 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Assault x 3
Assault Peace Officer
Public Mischief
Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Marihuana
Fail to Comply with Condition of a Recognizance x 3
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
The investigation is continuing.
