Assault with a Weapon- Arrest- C14-245483

On November 16, 2014 shortly after 12:10 p.m., a lone male attended to a department store within the 1500 block of Portage Avenue. While at that location, the male was observed by a loss prevention officer to conceal an assortment of merchandise estimated at $380, and attempt to exit the store without paying for the items. 
 
The loss prevention officer proceeded to apprehend the male at which point the suspect then began to fight with the officer. Two other security personnel came to his aid as the suspect produced an electronic control device and discharged it in the direction of them, striking one of them in the upper body.
 
Security officers were able to take control of the suspect and summon police.
 
Michael William REDDEN, 23 years of Winnipeg,has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Assault with a Weapon X3
Theft under $5000
Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Possession of a Weapon
 
REDDEN has been detained in custody. 
 
 
Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Imagery Arrest – C14-194014
As a result of an initial investigation which began in September 2014, a 32-year-old male had been charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Possession of Child Pornography, for alleged incidents occurring between January 2009 and December 2010.
 
As a result of the continued investigation by members of the Child Abuse unit, including an extensive forensic examination of seized items, additional victims have been identified.
 
Only minor details are being released to protect the identity of the victims in these incidents. 
 
On November 14, 2014,Christopher Clarke ELWICK, 32 years, was arrested on the strength of the warrantand was taken into custody without incident.
 
As a result of his alleged involvement ELWICK is facing the following additional charges:
 
Sexual Assault
Make Child Pornography X12 and
Possession of Child Pornography
 
He has been remanded into custody.  
 
 
Commercial Break & Enter- C14-245332
On November 16, 2014, shortly before 6:00 a.m. an outdoor clothing business located in the 2000 block of Corydon Avenue was broken into via smashing a large window at the front of the store.
 
Once inside, the suspect(s) removed in excess of 40 Canada Goose winter jackets, with an estimated value of $15,000. The following are stock photos of the stolen jackets:
