Commercial Robbery Arrest – C14-276824
 
On June 14th, 2014 a male suspect attended to a gas bar in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue. The suspect filled his vehicle with a quantity of gas and subsequently left without paying.
 
It is alleged that the same male suspect is responsible for the following incidents:
 

  • December 29th, 2014 at approximately 10:25 p.m. a suspect attended to a gas bar in the 800 block of Leila Avenue and requested a quantity of cigarettes. The suspect grabbed the merchandise and fled without paying. 
  • On the same day at approximately 11:30 p.m. a suspect attended to a gas bar in the 1300 block of McPhillips Street and grabbed a quantity of cigarettes. An employee intervened and the suspect fled, empty-handed, in a vehicle. There were no injuries. 
  • December 30th, 2014 at approximately 1:30 a.m. a suspect attended to a convenience store in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue. While inside the suspect grabbed a donation box and attempted to flee. He was confronted by employees, and fled the premises empty-handed.  
  • On the same day at approximately 1:35 a.m. a suspect attended to gas bar in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue and requested a quantity of cigarettes. The suspect grabbed the merchandise and attempted to flee. He was confronted by an employee and after a brief struggle the suspect fled empty-handed. The employee was not injured. A patrolling Tactical Support unit initiated a short pursuit after observing the suspect vehicle. A short time later the suspect lost control of the vehicle and was apprehended in the 600 block of Hamilton Avenue. He was not injured.

 
 Jacob Charles KLIPENSTEIN, 48 years, of Winnipeg was detained in custody. He has been charged with the following offences:
 
            Robbery
            Theft under x 5
            Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
            Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
            Mischief Under
 
 
 
Break and Enter Arrests – C14-238045
 
On December 30th, 2014 members of the Winnipeg Police Service District 3 Crime Unit arrested 2 males for a series of property crimes.
 
Victor Quenton HIEBERT, 50 years of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences and detained in custody:
 

  • Break, Enter and Theft  x 6
  • Theft under $5000 x 3
  • Fail to Comply Probation x 9
  • Theft Over $5000

 
A 77 year old male from Winnipeg has been released on a Promise to Appear and will be charged with:
 

  • Break, Enter and Theft
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Theft Over $5000

 The incidents leading up to the arrests are as follows:
 
On June 26th, 2014 a bicycle was stolen from a rear lot in the 1400 block of Main Street.
 
On August 31st suspects broke into a residence in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue and stole $700 worth of copper piping resulting in a flood which caused $2000 in damages to the property.
 
On September 15th suspects broke into a residence in the 600 block of Maryland
Street apparently looking for copper piping, however none was found.
 
On October 7th suspects stole a trailer valued at $250 from a rear lot in the 1400 block of Main Street.
 
Between October 23rd and November 1st suspects stole a quantity of scrap metal valued at $700 from a compound in the 1st block of Charles Street
 
On November 6th suspects broke into a residence in the 600 block of Furby Street and removed copper piping valued at $45.
 
On November 21st suspects broke into a compound in the 400 block of King street and stole metal valued at $80
 
On December 17th witnesses observed two suspects remove air-conditioning units valued at $5600 from a residence in the 90 block of Granville Street.
