Homicide Investigation – C14-266289
On December 14, 2014 shortly before 6:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Burrows Avenue and Charles Street for the report of a female having been stabbed.
 
An adult female, suffering from apparent stab wounds, was located and transported to hospital in critical condition.  She has since succumbed to her injuries.
 
Family notifications have been made and the victim is identified as Angela Marie POORMAN, 29 years of Winnipeg.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Poppy Donation Box Thefts – Update - Arrests - C14-238058
As previously released, the Winnipeg Police Service received several reports of stolen poppy donation boxes.  They include:
 
November 3rd – 2200 block of McPhillips Street
November 4th – 1500 block of St Mary's Road
November 4th – 1200 block of St Mary's Road
November 5th – 1500 block of Regent Avenue
November 5th – 900 block of Nairn Avenue
November 5th – 1600 block of Logan Avenue
November 5th – 900 block of Nairn Avenue
 
Photos of the suspects were released to the media and public along with a request for assistance in identifying them.
 
On December 14, 2014 District 3 officers located and arrested the two suspects without incident.  They were subsequently turned over to members of the East District Crime Unit who continued with the investigation.
 
Anthony Victor Joseph PRINCE, 22 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

  • Theft Under $5000 x 7
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 7

Michael Andrew Eugene PRINCE, 25 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following for his alleged involvement:

  • Theft Under $5000 x 7

Both were detained in custody.
