Residential Robbery Arrests – C15-24250
On February 3, 2015, at approximately 2:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to area of Beaverhill Boulevard and Radburn Place for the report of an assault that had just occurred.  Information provided was that the 16-year-old victim had been bear maced.  It was further revealed that this may be related to a residential robbery, involving three suspects that had occurred in the 800 block of Beaverhill.
 
Several units, including Canine, attended and all involved were located.

All persons were identified and members of the East and West District Crime Units continued with the investigation.  It was learned the 16-year-old had been contacted by his 13-year-old sister who advised that she was home and someone had broken in.  The male returned home to find one of the suspects still on scene.  After finding that his sister was unharmed, the male armed himself with a knife, pursued and then confronted the suspect, a 15-year-old male, who was armed with a hammer.  During the altercation the suspect sprayed him with a noxious substance.  The suspect was stabbed several times in the upper body but was able to flee on foot.  He was picked up a short distance away by the other two suspects and driven to hospital.
 
For his alleged involvement, a 15-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:

  • Break Enter & Commit Robbery – Dwelling House
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  • Possession of Break In Instruments

He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement:

  • Break Enter & Commit Robbery – Dwelling House
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  • Possession of Break In Instruments

He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
For her alleged involvement, a 16-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Break Enter & Commit Robbery – Dwelling House
  • Fail to Comply with Disposition

She was detained in custody
 
The 16-year-old resident is facing charges of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose for his alleged involvement.
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.

 
Vehicle Robbery Investigation – C15-25230
On February 4, 2015, shortly before 10:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 200 block of Princess Street for the report of vehicle robbery.  Information provided was that the victim's vehicle, with her one & three year-old children still inside, had just been stolen.
 
Several units flooded the area and it was revealed that the vehicle had been located a short distance away, with the children safe inside.
 
The victims related that they had just parked and exited the vehicle when two males approached.  After a brief confrontation, the males jumped into the vehicle and drove off.
 
No description of the suspects is available.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).

 
Strong-arm Robbery – C15-18492
On January 26, 2015, shortly after 9:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of a strong-arm robbery.
 
Officers met with the 16-year-old victim who advised that he had been jogging along the river in the 700 block of Jubilee Avenue where he noted four males standing on the trail.  As he approached, the males refused to part and then surrounded him when he stopped.  The males demanded his property and after he complied one of them physically assaulted him from behind which caused the victim to fall to the ground.  The suspects then fled eastbound down the trail.
 
The victim was transported to hospital and treated for his injuries.
 
Suspect #1 below is described as: Caucasian male, approximately 19-23 years of age, 6'2" tall with an average build and a moustache.  He was wearing a darker hoodie, jacket and baseball hat.

Three other suspects were similar Caucasian males in late teen-early 20's.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the West District Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Grow Operation Arrest - R15-8245
On February 4, 2015, members of the Marihuana Grow Operation Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and East District Patrol members, executed a Controlled Drugs & Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence located in the 1st 100 block of Stacey Bay.
 
A male was arrested at the time.
 
A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 572 Marihuana plants with an estimated street value $640,640.00
  • Grow operation equipment worth $20,000

The 45 year-old male is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement:

  • Produce a Scheduled Substance - CANNABIS (Marihuana)
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - CANNABIS (Marihuana)

He was released via a Promise to Appear.
