Update - Residential Robbery Arrest - C14-222638
As previously released - On October 18, 2014 just after midnight, officers responded to a residence located in the 800 block of Sheppard Street as a result of a robbery incident involving two suspects.
 
The armed suspects confronted the occupants and began demanding cash and prescription medication. A 60 year–old male victim sustained a non-life threatening injury in the upper body during the robbery. The suspects fled and police were notified.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit. As a result, a male and female suspect was identified resulting in warrants being issued.
 
On January 31, 2015 officers made contact with the female suspect during an unrelated matter. She was arrested and taken into custody on the strength of the outstanding warrant.
 
Crystal Marie SANDERSON, 32 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to her alleged involvement:
 
Break enter & commit robbery
Possession of a weapon
Disguise with intent
Robbery x 2
 
She was remanded into custody.
 
The male suspect remains outstanding.
 
 
Firearm Investigation Arrest – C15-23926
On February 3, 2015 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Polson Avenue and Main Street regarding a cab driver being threatened by a male armed with a gun.
 
It has been determined that a male and female had been picked up by cab from a residence located in the 100 block of Bannerman Avenue. They requested to be driven to a residence on Carmen Avenue and then returned to the Bannerman Avenue location.
 
It was at this time an argument erupted regarding the fare and both suspects exited the vehicle. The male suspect then produced a gun and threatened the driver. As a result, the cab driver drove away and notified police.
 
Patrol and Canine Unit members located both suspects and took them into custody.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate.
 
Dustin Wayne JOHNSON, 19 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
Carrying concealed weapon prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of a weapon
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Pointing a firearm
 
He remains in custody.
 
The 16-year-old female arrested in the incident was later released without charge.
