Mischief – Cause Danger to Life - Arrest – Air1 Investigation –
C15-129128
On June 21, 2015 at approximately 12:10 a.m., members of the Flight Operations Unit – Air1 responded to the Red River Exhibition grounds located in the 3900 block of Portage Avenue regarding a group of males causing a disturbance.
 
Upon arrival, Air1 began scanning the area. While doing so, the helicopter was struck with a green laser, filling the cockpit with green light and placing the entire crew at significant risk. The suspect projected the laser in the direction of Air1 on multiple occasions during this time.
 
The suspect then entered a vehicle and began travelling southbound on the Perimeter Highway. Air1 directed West District Patrol members on the ground and the vehicle was eventually stopped and a male arrested in the area of Setter Street. A green laser pointer was located and seized by officers.
 
An 18-year-old male is facing the following charges:
 
Mischief – Endangering Life
(Canadian Aviation Regulations) Project Light Source into Navigable Airspace
 
He was released on an Appearance Notice.
 
 
Indecent Act – C15-128276
On June 19, 2015 at approximately 11:00 p.m., a 19-year-old female was walking in the area of Sutton Avenue and Henderson Highway when she observed a male walking behind her.
 
The male was observed with his pants lowered and exposing himself to the victim. She ran away and police were notified. No contact was made and the victim was not injured.
 
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 5'6" tall, in his 20's, thin build, wearing a white tight tank top and grey sweatpants.
 
The East District Crime Unit has been notified. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).  
 
 
Indecent Act – C15-128590
On June 20, 2015 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. a male suspect was observed performing an indecent act outside a business located in the 3300 block of Portage Avenue.  
 
The male was asked to leave the area by the manager of the business and police were notified.
 
The suspect is described as: male, 5'10" tall, in his late 20's or early 30's, 210 pounds, medium build, short black cropped hair, brown eyes, wearing a plain grey pullover, baggy blue jeans and carrying a large bulky blue and grey backpack.
 
The West District Crime Unit has been notified. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
