Project Return
 


The Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit, Counter Exploitation Team, Sex Crimes Unit and the Missing Persons Unit, in partnership with Outreach Workers from StreetReach Winnipeg initiated a joint project on Thursday, June 18, 2015, with the aim of protecting youth within our city who are at high risk of being sexually exploited.
 

  • 2 DISC STOPS (Deter Identify Sex Trade workers Consumers) were completed with Sex Trade Exploiters.
  • 8 CPTSD STOPS (Crime Prevention through Social Development) were made to identify and assist those involved in the street level sex trade.
  • 1 PON (Provincial Offence Notice) was issued for a HTA (Highway Traffic Act) infraction committed by the Sex Trade Consumer who was attempting to pick up a Sex Trade Worker.
  • 46 addresses were checked for missing youth. 
  • Five at risk youth, all between the ages of 14 and 15-years-old were located and taken to place of safety. Two of the missing youth were arrested and processed on outstanding warrants.

Our commitment to issues surrounding our missing youth will continue.
 
StreetReach Winnipeg is an organization that is committed to protecting at risk youth in our community.  It is comprised of numerous organizations including the Child Protection Branch, All Nations Coordinated Response Network,MaryMound Inc., Mamawi and MARTR (Manitoba Association for Residential Treatment Resources).
