News Release - Winnipeg Police Service

Winnipeg Police Service

Monday, July 27, 2015

Summer in the City means Winnipeggers taking every opportunity to be outside and soak up all that our city has to offer. The Winnipeg Police Service would like to take this opportunity to remind citizens and visitors that adopting a security conscious lifestyle will lead to a more enjoyable summer experience:

  • Stay alert to your surroundings and trust your instincts if you feel uncomfortable.
  • Two is company, and safer. Enjoy the outdoors with a friend or two.
  • Plan ahead to choose a safe route that is both well-lit and well-travelled.
  • Limit displaying expensive items or jewelry and purses that could pose a temptation.
  • Use a high quality bicycle lock.
  • Park your vehicle in well-lit, high traffic areas and never leave valuables in view.
  • Remember to lock your doors when out gardening or enjoying the yard.
