Update - Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision - Arrest –
C15-68746

As previously released- On April 7, 2015 at approximately 9:05 a.m., emergency services responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at Keewatin Street and Burrows Avenue involving a pedestrian and Winnipeg transit bus.

As a result of the collision, a 72-year-old female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries.

Traffic Collision Investigators determined that the pedestrian was standing on the southwest corner of Keewatin Street and Burrows Avenue with the intention of crossing in an eastbound direction at the pedestrian corridor.  A transit bus travelling east on Burrows Avenue turned southbound onto Keewatin Street and struck the victim causing her to fall under the bus.

The bus stopped and emergency personnel were notified. 

The investigation continued by members of the Central Traffic Unit and on July 9th investigators arrested the bus driver, a 45-year-old male of Winnipeg.

He is facing a charge of Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Death for his alleged involvement and was released via a Promise to Appear.
