Monday, August 31, 2015 Motor Vehicle Collision – C15-181992 On August 30, 2015, at approximately 3:20 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Bishop Grandin Boulevard and St Mary's Road for a motor vehicle collision. Two adult males, later learned to be passengers in the vehicle, were located suffering from various injuries. Both were transported to hospital, one unstable and the other critical. Members of the Central Traffic Unit continued with the investigation. It was learned that the vehicle had been eastbound on Bishop Grandin when, for reasons unknown, it veered off the road and collided with a light standard and then rolled several times. Witnesses in the area observed a male walking away from collision. At approximately 4:00 p.m. investigators arrested the alleged driver at his residence. Derron Orlando BROWN, 29 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident involving Bodily Harm x 2. He was detained in custody. The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit and further charges are expected. Male In River Update – C15-182160 As previously released, on August 30, 2015, shortly after 11:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of the Norwood Bridge for a Wellbeing call. Information provided was that the complainant was unable to locate a friend with whom he was to go fishing with, but had located his friend's fishing equipment on the riverbank. A search of the area resulted in the adult male being located in the river. He was transported to hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed.
