Break-In and Stabbing Investigation – Arrest C15-187085
On September 6, 2015 at approximately 5:10 a.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 5900 block of Betsworth Avenue regarding a stabbing incident.
 
Further information indicated that an unknown male had broken into the home while two residents were sleeping. The suspect confronted a 66-year-old male homeowner and stabbed him multiple times in the upper body. A 64-year-old female resident sustained non-life threatening injuries before fleeing to the neighbour's home where police were called.
 
The suspect fled the residence.
 
Patrol members, the Tactical Support Team and Canine Unit responded. The suspect was taken into custody at approximately 5:20 a.m. in the area of Hunterspoint Road and Citation Circle.
 
Both victims are in stable condition.
 
Members of the West District Crime Unit continued to investigate.
 
It was also discovered that the suspect broke into a garage on The Bridle Path and caused damage to a vehicle parked on Betsworth Avenue.
 
Jonathan Isaac PLETT, 25-years-old of Winnipeghas been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Break, Enter and Commit – Dwelling House x 2
Aggravated Assault with a Weapon x 2
Robbery x 2
Possession of a Weapon
Mischief Under $5000.00
 
He was remanded into custody.  
 
 
Attempt Abduction Arrest – C15-187085
On September 5, 2015 at approximately 5:30 p.m., a group of kids were playing in the area of Boyd Avenue and Powers Street when an unknown male approached and introduced himself. The kids were frightened and fled the area.
 
The male followed and eventually took hold of an 11-year-old girl. The male suggested he was a police officer and stated she was under arrest. The male advised her to place her hands behind her back at which time she began screaming for help.
 
Area residents overheard the commotion and attempted to assist when the male again suggested to them he was a police officer.      
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service were notified and attended. The suspect remained in the area and was taken into custody at approximately 6:00 p.m.
 
Members of the Child Abuse Unit and Sex Crimes Unit continued to investigate.
Damian John Abraham, 31-years-old of Winnipeghas been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Personating Peace Officer
Abduction of Peron Under 14 years of age
Assault
Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance
 
He was remanded into custody.
