Update – Homicide Investigation – Male Arrested -
C15-175738

As previously released - On August 22, 2015, shortly before 5:00 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1st 100 block of Donwood Drive for the report of an injured male.

An adult male was located suffering from injuries consistent with being stabbed. He was transported to hospital in critical condition where he later died of his injuries.

The deceased was identified as: Darryl Arthur ABRAHAM, 36 years, of Winnipeg.

The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit who were able to identify a suspect.  Attempts to locate him were unsuccessful and, as a result of his alleged involvement, a Canada Wide Warrant of Arrest for Manslaughter was obtained for George Alan GUIMOND, 35 years of Winnipeg.

On September 8th GUIMOND was located and arrested in the downtown area by members of the Homicide Unit.

He has been detained in custody.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.  It has been learned that after the incident a fare, along with a bike, was picked up in the area and later dropped off in the Dufferin area of the North End.   Investigators are attempting to identify the cab &or its' driver.  Anyone with information is requested to call the Homicide Unit at (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).


Commercial Break & Enter Investigations – C15-173859
Recently, members of the West District Crime Unit have been involved in the investigation of several commercial break & enter incidents with a similar modus operandi.  They include:

June 6          - 500 block of King Edward Street
June 16        - 1100 block of Chevrier Boulevard
July 3           - 1st 100 block of Bison Drive
August 18     - 1600 block of Notre Dame Avenue
August 19     - 1300 block of Sargent Avenue
August 20     - 2000 block of Logan Avenue
August 25     - 1200 block of Border Avenue
August 28     - 1100 block of Sanford Street

In each incident, the suspect(s) either jump over or cut the fence surrounding the business and proceed to steal items from within the compound.

The investigation is continuing by members of the West District Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
