Firearm Investigation – Male Arrested - C15-22638
As previously released, during the early morning hours of February 1, 2015, an unknown male entered a taxi cab while in the area of the first 100 block of St. Anne's Road.

The male requested to be driven to 300 block of Blake Street, eventually exiting the cab and leaving behind a loaded firearm. 

Division 11 Crime Unit members had been involved in the investigation, however had not been able to identify the suspect. On October 20th investigators requested the public's assistance in identifying the male.  With the publics' assistance, his identity was revealed.

On the afternoon of October 22nd the suspect was arrested without incident.

Mathew Kenneth ELLISON, 23 years of Winnipeg has been charged with numerous firearms related offences for his alleged involvement.

He was detained in custody.


Drug Warrant Arrests – R15-76898
In July of 2015, members of the West District Community Support Unit became aware of possible drug trafficking out of a residence in the 1st 100 block of Riverside Drive.  As a result of their investigation a Controlled Drugs and Substances (CDSA) Search Warrant was obtained.

On October 21st, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, the warrant was executed.  Three people within the residence were arrested without incident.  A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 50 x 20mg Rabepazole Sodium
  • 25 x 1mg Respiridone
  • 15 x 20mg Citalopram Hydrobromide

The above medications stolen were from a residence in the 100 block of Smithfield Avenue.

  • 60 x 300mg Gabapentin
  • 6 x 24mg Hydromorph Contin
  • 1x 12mg Hydromorph Contin
  • 1.24 grams of Fentanyl
  • 9 x 1mg Clonazepam
  • 7 x 2mg Clonazepam
  • Five different varieties of unknown pills, 72 pills in total – possibly Dilaudid, also known as Hydromorphone, an abused and trafficked opioid pain killer. 
  • 2 rocks (.19 grams) Crack Cocaine
  • 9.3 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms
  • 1.5 grams Methamphetamine
  • Drug paraphernalia

For his alleged involvement, Scott George PATERSON, 37 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Theft Under $5000 x 2, Possession of a Scheduled Substance – METHAMPHETAMINE, Possession of a Scheduled Substance – PSILOCYBIN, Possession of a Scheduled Substance – COCAINE, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.  He was detained in custody.

A 38-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing charges of Theft Under $5000, Possession of a Scheduled Substance – METHAMPHETAMINE, Possession of a Scheduled Substance – PSILOCYBIN, Possession of a Scheduled Substance – COCAINE and Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking for her alleged involvement.  She was released via a Promise to Appear.

A 54-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing a charge of Possession of a Scheduled Substance – METHAMPHETAMINE for his alleged involvement.  He was released via an Appearance Notice.


Fire Investigation Update - C15-222704
As previously released, on October 21, 2015 at approximately 2:30 a.m. emergency personnel were called to a fire in the area of Waverley Street and Sandusky Drive. 

A large apartment complex under construction was fully engulfed in flames.  Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution,however all residents were permitted to return to their homes.

No injuries were reported. 

The fire, with damages estimated at 3.5 million dollars, is being considered suspicious at this time.
