Assault Investigation – Arrest – C15-212362
As previously released, on October 8, 2015 at approximately 1:30 p.m., a 21-year-old female was travelling on a transit bus in the area of Marion Street when she was confronted by an unknown male.

The female was sitting and talking on her cellular phone when she felt something on the back of her head. She turned around and discovered that an unknown male spit on her. The male began yelling at her when he abruptly grabbed her hair causing her to come out of her seat.

Other passengers attempted to intervene when the suspect assaulted her further in the upper body causing injury.

Another passenger pushed the suspect off the bus, at which time the driver was notified. The victim made her way home and contacted the Winnipeg Police Service.

On October 14th investigators released photos of the male and reached out to members of the public for assistance in identifying him.  A resulting tip assisted investigators in identifying the male and on October 26th he was located and arrested without incident.

A 50-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing a charge of Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

He was released via a Promise to Appear.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank members of the media and public for their assistance in this matter.
