Shooting Investigation – C15-239789
On November 14, 2015, shortly before 12:30 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 400 block of Stradbrook Avenue for the report of a male having been shot.

An adult male was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The investigation is in the early stages and no further information is available at this time.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).


Shooting Investigation – C15-239932
On November 14, 2015, shortly before 6:30 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Broadway and Donald Street for the report of a male having been shot.

An adult male was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in unstable condition.

No further information is available at this time.

Vehicle Robbery Investigation – C15-238988
On November 12, 2015, at approximately 10:30 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of an attempt vehicle robbery in the 200 block of Osborne Street.

Officers met with the victim who advised that he had been in his vehicle when three unknown males came up, one punching the vehicle.  Upon exiting, he became involved in a physical altercation with one of the males.  The second male then produced a weapon and assaulted the victim.  When the victim fled, this male then attempted to drive off with the vehicle but was unsuccessful.  A passing witness stopped to assist and the three suspects ran off.

The victim received minor injuries as a result of the assault.

Suspect #1 is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 16-17 years of age, 5'8" tall with a skinny build and black hair.  He was wearing black, baggy clothes, gloves and had a backpack.

Suspect #2 is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 16-17 years of age, 5'9" tall with a skinny build and black hair.  He was wearing black, baggy clothes, black baseball hat.

Suspect #3 is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 16-17 years of age.

Weapons Arrest – C15-239744
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on November 13, 2015, uniform members were on patrol in the area of Wellington Avenue and Simcoe Street.  It was at this time they observed a known male, acting in a suspicious manner and attempting to evade police.  The male was seen to go between two houses and drop something just prior to exiting the yard.  He was arrested and officers subsequently located an unloaded Smith & Wesson .357 handgun along with 6 rounds of .38 calibre ammunition.

Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been stolen from a Winnipeg residence in 1989.

Jesse James WHYTE, 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition and Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime.

He was detained in custody.
