Homicide Investigation Update – C15-228661

On Tuesday, November 2, 2015  Winnipeg Police homicide investigators were in the area of St. Malo, Manitoba as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of Camille Runke on October 30.

Investigators were looking for Kevin Runke, who was considered a person of interest in the case.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. officers observed a vehicle associated to Kevin Runke and attempted to stop it. The vehicle veered off into a wooded area and came to a stop. Due to concerns that Runke may have been armed, both the Winnipeg Police Tactical Unit and RCMP Emergency Response Team were deployed.

It was subsequently determined that Kevin Runke was the lone occupant of the vehicle and he was confirmed deceased at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The death of Kevin Runke is now being investigated by the Independent Investigation Unit of the Province of Manitoba.

The Camille Runke homicide will continue to be investigated by members of the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit.
