Public Assistance Required in Identifying Deceased Male - 16-000747
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in confirming the identity of a deceased adult male.  The male was taken to a Winnipeg hospital in early January 2016 where he later passed away.

This is not a criminal investigation as foul play is not suspected. At this time, efforts to confirm the male's identity and notify next of kin have met with negative results.

As a result of the investigation, the deceased may be known by acquaintances as "Ron FOSTER" and or"Edgar BROWN".

The deceased is described as: a Black male, in his 70's, approximately 5'4" tall, 109 pounds, black short curly hair with grey streaks and unshaven.

At the time of his passing, this male was residing at an address on Selkirk Avenue in the city of Winnipeg.  He has also lived at residences on Ellice Avenue and Furby Street in Winnipeg in the past.

It is believed this individual moved to Canada in the 1970's from Jamaica with the majority of his time in Canada spent in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  It is also believed that he may have family members residing in not only Winnipeg and Jamaica, but including the greater Toronto area.

It should also be noted that the deceased was self-employed for many years as a handyman while residing in the Winnipeg area.

By releasing these details, it is our hope that the deceased's identity can be confirmed and next of kin identified in order for the appropriate notifications to be fulfilled.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting anyone with any information regarding this male to contact members of the Missing Persons Unit at (204) 986-4510.
