Transit Assault Arrest – C16-28501
On February 10, 2016, shortly before 11:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Sargent Avenue and Valour Road for the report of a Transit driver having just been assaulted.
   
Officers met with the driver who advised that she had been involved in a verbal argument with a passenger that later escalated to the point where the female physically assaulted her.
   
Officers later met with the 17-year-old suspect.  She advised that the physical altercation had been started by the Transit driver and that she had struck back in self-defence.
   
Members of the West District Crime Unit continued with the investigation.  It has been learned that the transit driver had in fact started the physical altercation, after having been involved in the verbal confrontation.
   
A 51-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of Public Mischief and Assault for her alleged involvement.
   
She was released via a Promise to Appear.
   
The investigation is continuing by members of the West District Crime Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
