Today Winnipeg Police Service dispatched multiple units to two separate incidents within approximately forty minutes of each other, both involving firearms:
   
Shots Heard – Investigation:  C16-149347
At approximately 9:10 a.m. officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of St. Mary's Road and St. Thomas Road. No injuries were reported.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Firearm Incident – C16-149372
At approximately 9:50 a.m. in response to numerous 911 calls, multiple police units were dispatched to Portage Avenue and Main Street for a female wearing a face-mask and pointing a gun to her head. Upon police arrival the female removed her mask and put the gun to her head and dropped to the ground.
   
As officers began to approach, the female got to her feet and began walking away with the gun in her hand. One officer was able to tackle the suspect without further incident.  This incident unfolded in the heart of downtown, mid-morning, in the midst of a large number of bystanders. Further investigation determined that the firearm was a replica handgun.
   
A 17-year-old female was arrested and charged with the following offences:
   
- Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Cause Disturbance
- Public Mischief
   
The accused was detained in custody.
