Motor Vehicle Collision – C16-162268
On August 5th, 2016 at approximately 12:40 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Higgins Avenue and Main Street in response to a motor vehicle collision that had occurred involving a truck and a pedestrian.

The subsequent investigation has determined that the victim may have lost his balance and fell into the westbound lanes of Higgins Avenue just west of Main Street, where he was then struck by a passing tractor trailer. It appears the 51-year-old male victim may have been panhandling at the intersection prior to the collision.

The male was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to guarded condition.

Members of the Central Traffic Unit continue to investigate. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6271.
