Firearms Arrest – C16-183211

On September 2nd, 2016 at approximately 9:30 pm, a victim adult male attended to a residence within the 500 block of Aberdeen Avenue in an attempt to retrieve stolen property he had located via an online classified advertising service. At this time, a suspect adult male pointed a firearm in the victim's direction.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service were contacted and attended the residence, where they observed the suspect male placing a rifle and a firearm case containing a sawed-off shotgun with ammunition into a vehicle.
 
The male, along with a number of individuals, were taken into custody and the investigation continued by members of the District 3 general patrol unit.
 
A pellet gun was later located within the residence.
 
Leslie Kabe THOMAS, a 31-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
   - Pointing a Firearm
   - Possession of a Weapon (x3)
   - Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x3)
   - Possession of Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
   - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations (x3)
   - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
   - Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order (x3)
   - Fail to Comply with Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x2)
 
He was detained in custody.
 
Firearms Arrest – C16-183376
 
On September 3rd, 2016 at approximately 1:00 am, a District 3 general patrol unit was travelling in the area of Andrews Street and Aberdeen Avenue when a suspicious male was observed holding a bag containing what the officers believed to be protruding handle of a firearm.
 
The male was placed under arrest and officers located a loaded sawed-off rifle within the bag.
 
Kenley Ryan ST. PAUL, a 36-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
   - Possession of a Weapon
   - Carry Concealed Weapon
   - Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
   - Possession of a Prohibited /Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
   - Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order (x2)
 
He was detained in custody.
