Tuesday, February 21, 2017   As Previously Released: Arrest Warrants Issued in Homicide Investigation - C17-26739 Note legal restrictions regarding youth As previously released - On February 6, 2017, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers along with members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to the 500 block of Magnus Avenue regarding an injured male. A 28-year-old male identified as Canon Franklin BEARDY of Winnipeg was located suffering from multiple serious injuries and transported to hospital in critical condition. He has since succumbed to his injuries. A 14-year-old youth has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the homicide, but members of the Homicide Unit continue to investigate and are seeking two other males. The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit has obtained a court order authorizing the publication of the identity of a youth wanted in connection with the homicide. Attempts to locate 16-year-old Justin HARPER have been unsuccessful.  He is charged with 2nd Degree Murder, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.  NOTE:  This court order ceases to have effect on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.  Media outlets are reminded not to publish images of this accused or name him after that time.
