Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C17-135204
 
On June 20, 2017, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to an incident in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue. Police were told that a male, armed with scissors and a knife was checking door handles of vehicles in the area. Police also learned that the same suspect had just robbed a convenience store in the same block. No one was injured in the robbery. 
 
The suspect was located a short time later in the area of McKenzie St. and Pritchard Ave. At this time the suspect, still armed with both weapons charged at officers screaming for police to shoot him. Officers used a Conducted Energy Weapon (CED – 'Taser'), however this was not successful. The suspect, still armed, then jumped on the hood of a police car again yelling for police to shoot him. Officers again deployed a CED a second time and were able to take the suspect into custody. 
 
The accused was conveyed to a hospital and was medically cleared. 
 
Errol Quincy Monias, a 27-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:
   
 - Robbery
 - Possess Weapon
 - Assault Peace Officer with Weapon x 4
 - Fail to Comply with Recognizance x 2
 - Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2
 
The accused was detained in custody.
