Homicide – Arrest: C17-157120
 
As previously released:
 
On July 16, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of an injured male in the front entrance of a business in the 600 block of Main Street. An adult male was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he was subsequently pronounced deceased. 
 
The victim has been identified as: John Blaine Flett, 50-years-old, of Winnipeg. 
 
The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit.
 
It has been determined that the victim had been involved in a dispute with a known male when he was stabbed in the upper-body.
 
On July 18, 2017, Homicide Investigators placed a suspect male under arrest. Eric John Guimond, a 57-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
 
He was detained in custody.
 
Firearms – Arrests: C17-158608
 
On July 19, 2017, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a Tactical Support Team supervisor was traveling in the 500 block of Spence Street when a male was observed handling what was believed to be a rifle at the rear of a vehicle.
 
As a result of this incident, a male and female were placed under arrest. Officers located and seized a number of weapons from within the vehicle including two SKS rifles, a .30-30 Winchester rifle and three air guns.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
Billy James Skerratt, a 36-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with numerous firearm-related offences in addition to breach of recognizance.
 
Jessie Lynn McKay, a 47-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with numerous firearm-related offences in addition to possession of a scheduled substance (codeine).
 
They were detained in custody.
