Serious Motor Vehicle Collision: C17-244872
On October 28, 2017, at approximately 8:45 p.m. emergency services personnel responded to a report of a serious MVC on Henderson Hwy. at McLeod Ave.
A vehicle travelling northbound on Henderson struck a southbound vehicle attempting to make a left-hand turn. Two adult females, one from each vehicle, were transported to hospital and are now in stable condition. Speed is believed to have been a factor.
Investigators are asking that anyone who may have been a witness to this incident to contact the Central Traffic Unit at 204-986-6271.
Serious Motor Vehicle Collision/Pedestrian: C17-244893
On October 28, 2017, at approximately 9:20 p.m. emergency services personnel responded to a report of a serious MVC at Plessis Road and Ravelston Avenue West involving a pedestrian.
A 20-year-old male had left a City of Winnipeg transit bus and was attempting to cross Plessis Road when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The male was transported to hosptial in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.
Investigators are asking that anyone who may have been a witness to this incident to contact the Central Traffic Unit at 204-986-6271.
Drugs – Arrests: C17-243429
On October 27, 2017, officers from the District 3 Community Support Unit, along with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, and the Street Crimes Unit entered into a drug investigation. Officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) Search warrant on a residence in the Fort Rouge neighbourhood of Winnipeg and made a number of seizures, including:
- Approximately $1,800 in cash
- 11 grams of methamphetamine (Street value approx. $1,100)
- 6 x Fentanyl blotters (S.V. $150)
- Numerous capsules containing an unknown white powder
- Bear Spray
- Various pieces of personal identification
A 25-year-old female was charged with various drug-related offences including possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of identify documents. She was released on a Promise to Appear.
A 27-year-old male was charged with various drug offences including possession of both fentanyl and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possessing proceeds of crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
A 39-year-old male was charged with possession of methamphetamine. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
Cameron Joseph BONHAM, 41, was charged with trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing proceeds of crime, failure to comply with probation orders, possessing a prohibited weapon, and possessing identity documents. He was detained in custody.
Public Safety Advisory
In relation to the above-noted incident police seized a number of fentanyl blotters. Investigators believe that there may be similar fentanyl blotters in existence within the city. Given the nature of the blotters, and the close timing of Halloween, the Winnipeg Police Service is advising caution should the public encounter any of these items, which appear to be harmless pieces of paper.
The blotters have a graphic of a Halloween witch riding a broom. The public is asked to call 911 if any of these blotters are located. They are considered extremely dangerous and not to handled.
