Serious Assault – Public Assistance Requested: C17-250283

On November 4, 2017, Winnipeg Police were advised of a serious assault that had just occurred. The 28-year-old victim was riding a Winnipeg Transit bus at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the area of Portage Avenue and Balmoral Street.

Two unidentified parties on the same bus began to argue. The victim attempted to calm the situation when a third, unidentified male passenger approached and became confrontational. This male struck the victim in the face causing significant facial injuries. The suspect fled out the rear door of the bus.

The suspect is described as a male in his late 20's to early 30's, dark haired goatee, approximately 6' with a skinny build wearing a brown or orange tuque, green parka, blue jeans and work boots.

Investigators have obtained CCTV images of the suspect are requesting the public's assistance in identifying this male.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
