Weapon - Arrest: C18-12532
On January 17, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a male, possibly armed with a firearm in the area of William Avenue and Isabel Street. Division 11 General Patrol officers attended and located an adult male, outside, in the 100 block of Isabel Avenue. He was in possession of what appeared to be the barrel of a shotgun under his jacket. The male failed to comply with officer's orders and as a result officer's deescalated the situation and a Conducted Electrical Weapon (Taser) was discharged, enabling officers to take the male into custody.
A search of the male revealed that the firearm was actually a metal pipe strapped to a long piece of wood.
Officers learned that the male had attended to a business in the 100 block of Isabel Avenue where he caused a commotion. He then pulled out an object, which the employee thought could be a firearm, and pointed it in the direction of the employee.
The same male then attended to a second business in the 100 block of Isabel Avenue and threatened to "fire" at the employee with an object that appeared to be a shotgun. He left when the employee ran to the back of the business.
