Attempt Murder – Arrests: C18-34904
 
On February 17, 2018, at approximately 6:15 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the report of a shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Chalmers Avenue.
 
Upon arrival, a 33-year-old male was located with numerous gunshot wound injuries. The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition.
 
An investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit determined three male suspects attended the victim's residence and a dispute occurred at the front door. The victim observed a firearm and attempted to retreat, however, the suspects were able to force their way inside and the victim was shot several times. The suspects then ransacked the residence and stole several items before fleeing.
 
Detectives have made three arrests in regards to this incident.
 
Brian Wayne Chief, a 36-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Transport Firearm Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
 
Daniel Kevin Johnston, a 33-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Discharge a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
- Transport Firearm Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
 
Jesse Bailley Lee Gladue, a 27-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Assault with a Weapon
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Transport Firearm Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x3)
 
They were detained in custody.
