Ticket Scalping – Public Advisory

The Winnipeg Police Service is aware that free tickets on sale for tomorrow's #WPGWhiteout Street Party are being advertised for sale.

Some ads are asking for large sums of money per ticket. This is considered what is commonly known as "ticket scalping."

Ticket Scalping is the practice of buying tickets to an event and reselling them for more than the original cost. Enforcement is regulated under City of Winnipeg By-Law #125/2006 and Provincial Legislation under the Amusements Act. At this point, the Winnipeg Police Service has not received any formal complaints from the public.

The Winnipeg Police Service reminds the public to take every precaution before paying for these free tickets.

For further information contact either:
Constable Rob Carver, Public Information Officer
Constable Jay Murray, Public Information Officer
Constable Tammy Skrabek, Public Information Officer
