Assault Police Officer – Arrest: C18-118525
 
On June 5, 2018, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Winnipeg Police general patrol units responded to a report of a disturbance in the 800 of Simcoe Street. 
 
Upon police arrival and uniformed officers announcing their presence, a male opened the suite door slightly and discharged pepper spray at the 2 officers. The officers were contaminated but were able to pull back with minimal effects. 
 
Numerous additional units responded including the Tactical Support Team. At approximately 10:15 p.m. a male resident was taken into custody without incident. 
 
Justin Robert COONEY, 30, was arrested and charged with:
 - Assault Peace Officer with Weapon x 2
 - Possess Prohibited Weapon
 - Possess Weapon
 
Cooney was detained in custody.
