Robbery  - Arrest: C18-130096
On June 18, 2018, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a vehicle robbery which occurred in the area of Stella Avenue and McGregor Street. The victim, a 28-year-old male, reported that while he was stopped in his vehicle he was approached by three males, one armed with a sawed-off rifle. One of the males pointed the rifle at the victim and ordered him to turn over his car keys and exit the vehicle.  The victim complied and the males entered the vehicle, robbing the victim of his personal belongings in the process. The three males fled with the vehicle. 
 
On June 19, 2018, at 4:50 a.m., general patrol officers observed the stolen vehicle parked in the lane in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue with a lone male occupant. The male was seen exiting out the front passenger seat and was placed under arrest. The male was found to be in possession of a can of bear spray. 
 
On June 19, 2018, at 11:20 am, general patrol officers observed a male engaged in a dispute with a taxi driver in the 700 block of Flora Avenue. Officer stopped and attempted to intervene when the male fled but tripped and fell due to a loaded sawed-off rifle falling down his pant leg. He was immediately taken into custody. 
 
A loaded sawed-off .22 calibre rifle was seized along with several personal items stolen from the victim of the vehicle robbery. 
 
Caleb Joshua JOHNSTON, a 29-year-old male of Winnipeg was charged with:
Armed Robbery Using a Firearm
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Possess Weapon
Fail To Comply with Recognizance
Possession of a Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Probation Order 
 
Brandon Lee MCKAY, a 25-year-old male was charged with:
Armed Robbery using a Restricted Firearm or Prohibited Firearm
Pointing a Firearm
Possession of a Weapon X 2
Carrying Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition X 2
Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized X 2
Transports Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Careless Manner X 2
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle X 2
Fail to Comply with Recognizance X 4
Fail to Comply with Probation Order X 3
Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
